Okay my zanzibars have been acting weird for the past few days, they did the dirty but so far no babies. I only recently discovered that they are live bearers, so how would I look after the young? They are in a tank with 4 fulicas so I'm worried about cannibalism. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Ill reply! You are sooo lucky. All the ones I find are so expensive of that breed! I'm looking into expanding my collection with only has Reticulata and Fulcia so I am looking into rare breeds.

Mine usually produce a couple of weeks after mating and I find the babies stay under the substrate for a few days before emerging to feed. I have not found them too difficult to rear and just leave them in the same container as the adults, although as I don't mix species I don't know if they could be eaten by A. fulica. They are quite small, maybe 5mm diameter. You could search through and pick them out into a separate container?
Anyways good luck!

Hi, We had two times a.zanzibarica babys at home. We keep all the snail typs separated from each other. We kept the babys together with the parents for circa one month but after it we puted them in to an own box. This way the babys could get more food and more space to grow. All of our snails are alive and they seems to be healthy and strong snails. zanzibarica2012 - by csigavilag.hu

Thanks for all of the advice everyone c: much apprecited. Also, I managed to get them from an exotic supplier of inverts down in Portsmouth, they've recently closed down which is a shame /:
I don't have these any more but for future reference, particularly for rosiesnail2: I own two albino bodied reticulatas, who I'm proud to say have finally reached the sexual maturity milestone and started laying eggs a week ago.
As I don't have a great deal of space I'll be growing 98% of them on and selling (:
