Hi Everyone! My 4 year old daughter found a snail while we were vacationing in central Florida and brought it back home to upstate NY. She found the snail on a concrete wall. She has named her Lisa and right now she is in a pickle jar. I have done research on food, habitat, etc, and this weekend we are going to build her a little snail-y paradise. I am not even sure what kind of snail it is but I *think* it is just a white garden snail? I have never seen snails like this where I live, we have snails with much pointier shells. Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. I wanted to post in the Identification section to see if it an ID would help me know what it likes to eat, but I am not allowed to post there yet Last night I found some plum in the fridge and gave her a slice and this morning it didn't look to be touched, but this afternoon I am going to the store to get a cuttle bone and some fresh veggies. Anyway, here is a picture of Lisa. I know her habitat when this picture was taken is not exactly right, but we are learning.

Welcome to the forum! I can't really help with identification, hopefully someone else can, but Lisa's a super cute snail. :-)

Welcome to the forum! I can't really help with identification, hopefully someone else can, but Lisa's a super cute snail. :-) Thanks! here is a new picture of her once I got her a "real" home. She was mighty happy to get a taste of cucumber, sucked on that for a while then went straight to the cuttlebone I bought her. I'm not going to lie, I think she is adorable and really really love her LOL

The ID section is locked for all of us to post in - if you create an ID post here in the general section, or the help section, it will be eventually moved to the ID archive for reference

Is she willing to eat the leaves with the red veins? It seems like my snails refuse to eat any reddish leaves.

Since you bought her from out of state, I'm going to quickly point out that under no circumstances should that snail be released in the wild unless her species is native to NY. She's a real cute little thing, she has a lovely point to her shell.
