Love seeing the pictures of all the snails, before my 4- year old daughter found this one, I'd never given them much thought, nor came across too many. I NEVER thought we'd keep one as a pet, but I can't break my daughter's heart lol We found this snail in central florida on vacation and she came home to upstate NY with us. She is very small, smaller than a US dime. My daughter named her Lisa, btw.

She looks like a very distant cousin of my Cepaeas, but I don't know more than that! Can anyone else here identify this cute snail?

Thanks for the responses everyone!! I think you are right, I did some googling and thik she is a cepaea nemoralis. she is doing really well still. She will not eat any leafy greens except iceburg lettuce, loves cucumbers, and has only dabbled with sweet potato.. Won't touch a carrot lol.. I haven't given her a very varied diet yet though, I just cut a piece of watermelon and gave her that, we'll see what she thinks she laid eggs! I got rid of them though because I don't think I am ready for babies yet... I am wondering if she will lay eggs again..if she does I may keep them but will have to get a bigger habitat. Right now she's in a pretty small critter cage and stays at the top of it unless she is eating.

Hey, does she have a calcium source (cuttlefish bone/limestone)? Also if she truly is a Cepaea, they like to eat old food. Dried up/rotting plant parts and such. If that disgusts you, then go fresh but she needs variety still. Offer her a well soaked up, mushy dog biscuit for some protein (no salt/sugar/wheat in it) and try offering the carrot and sweet potato in thin slices made with a cheese grater. My Cepaeas love all of those.

I think you may be right. To answer the food question, she has a cuddlebone. She does not prefer old vegetation.. Also, she laid eggs again! I can't decide if I should keep them, or not. There is a lot of them lol
