Poor little snail I don't suppose that in this case there's much more you can do. If he moves and eats, and is interested in calcium, there might be hope. Just keep him comfortable and moist, like you've been doing.

thanks etana I kept him moist He can't really retract inside his shell because it's broken. He's active still. I'm still hoping but it's really sad to see the shell so broken =(

So sorry you couldn't save him. Lots of us sympathise/recognise because we devote our lives trying to save/rescue snails. Most of the time it's a happy ending, but unfortunately sometimes, regardless of what you do, it doesn't work. In these cases just be so proud of yourself for trying. So many wouldn't even bother, but we Snailers (isn't that a great new word for us?) will do everything we can & if one doesn't survive, chances are.....the next one will x

Thank you so much Moon. We like snails so much we really suffer with their suffering too. Got to be a fellow snailer (love the name!)to understand our sensitivity. They are such amazing creatures and so fragile we just want to make them happy. I keep reminding myself that even if we lose some we are generally helping a much greater number
