Hi!For three days now I feed my fulicas with some grind corn(+wheat) and some of their favourite vegetables. But yesterdaj they didn't ate any of the vegetables, they ate a lot of that corn. They love it!But should I feed them with this, how can I understand if they can't "digest" it well?Oh,and their new favourite food(corn) has a lot of hard pieces,is this bad for them. But I'm telling you they love it so much and I can afford a lot of it.Please tell me if I'm doing something wrong, thank you! I believe that you technically should not feed snails wheat products. Pasta has lethal side effects in snails, but I can't say anything for certain on this. Snails don't always know what's good for them, and if they're refusing vegetables to scarf down dry food, they should probably be forced to take a break from it, health issues or not. Fussy snails are a pain to feed.

Mine happily eat baby sweet corn and frozen or tinned sweet corn, they love the stuff. If its frozen I cook it first, if its canned then I make sure it's the corn that hasn't been in salt water and is washed very well.
I really seriously wouldn't feed Snails wheat or any grain's, I found a wild snail once on a farm I worked at that had been in the grain store where the wheat was, it was in a really bad way and try as I might I couldn't bring it around and it was suffering so I had to put it down. I'd hate to see or put any of my snails through that.
I know some people feed snails soaked oats but I also lost one of my tiger snails from eating oats, the others were fine but he had a bad reaction to it, so I keep very well clear of all types of grain with my snails.
I also wouldn't feed anything like that dry because it soaks up all moisture, just imagine what this would do in a snails gut! In horses this causes colic which can be fatal, and I suspect from that snail that I found in the grain store this was also part of the problem the dry grain had soaked up all the moisture and he couldn't pass it out of him. Then with a build up of toxins from the wheat itself and the fermenting process that was one very sick snail. Zorst

PLEASE HELP!When I stopped giving my snails this corn thing, which they loved, they don't like to eat anything else.I gave them some fish food and their FAVOURITE cucumber.Yeah, they eat,but just a little. The problem continues for about 10 days now. Could their lower appetite be due to the mold, which appeared when they were eating this corn thing, and some peases of it were on the substrate...I removed the upper layer of it,but the mold appeared again after 3 or 4 days. Oh,and I would like to try giving them some of this canned sweet corn. But it has salt. How can I get rid of the salt before I give it,is it enough just to wash it?
