This morning I went out and found a new friend for Moon! Her name is Ponyo, after the character in the Miyazaki film, because she bit my hand on the way home :-) Well, she tried to eat me, but I'm okay--it turns out I'm more than a snail can eat in one sitting! When I put her in the cage, she seemed *very* excited about the fresh romaine! She did the eye-bendy thing and started chowing down :-) Om, nom, nom. Those are all the pictures I have for now, but I'll upload more later! EDIT: Ponyo found the sweet potato! EDIT2: Now she's sleeping under a leaf~~

how beautiful. Yes thankfully we're not terribly edible maybe if they all ganged up at once though...

More pictures of Ponyo! :-) Ponyo has a very nice shell. It has some distinctive patterns on top! She likes the sweet potato :-)

Yes, they're garden snails that I found up the road :-) At different spots, though, so I think they're from different families.
I've never had any other kind of land snail besides Helix aspersa, although when I was young my family had little aquarium snails! I miss watching them snail about.

It would have to be like classic doctor who, the monsters would move so slowly it's only the people who stand still and fight them that get killed. (alternatively maybe they would set traps!)

Oh, Moon is that much bigger! I still keep thinking of the little snailie you snail-napped back then. Ponyo's shell is still growing, am I right? The differences in their shell colour patterns are so intriguing.
