It took many minuts before i realised you made a joke with the number of spots... haha I actually did something for real with my thirst four baby fulica's. I didn;t know yet the shells should change completely and it didnt make sense to do it any way.
i have made a picture of the egg thing in my rodatzi and post it tomorrow. Im a bit worried about it, it looks strange and big.
I'm not sure about the reason snails wait to long with laying their eggs, but there are so many things unknown about snails behouvior. Maybe it just happen sometimes without reason? it sounds likely that the reason could be the other babies
Tomorrow i write more!

It managed to put the pictures from my Phone to my laptop. So these are the pictures of my rodatzi and the big egg thing inside. Hopefully its clear enough. Its a strange thing isn't it? But two of the rodatzi's have that, so a tumor is not likely (because it seems not logical two snails have the same looking tumor at the same time. It IS possible of course, but not likely) I haven't got those rodatzi's for a long time. Since 8 february. so i don;t know when it began and if they allready had it before i got them. They spent a lot of time in bath, but more snails do that. They have no other strange behouvior and eat and poo normal.

Wow, that's weird. I'm afraid I can't say whether that's bad or normal. It looks suspicious since it nearly fills the breathing hole. I hope someone more knowledgeable sees this!

Yeah, sometimes its moved more deeply into the shell (like eggs do sometimes)and there could be more round things. Like swolen eggs. i just got an idea and contact the previous owner, to ask her if she saw it before.
Thanks

Etana, breaking news...
My Rodatzi with the egg thing (on the picture) layed a clutch of big, living babies. He dug a small hole and layed them as if they were eggs. i thought it were immaculata;s at first time, but after i picked up the particular rodatzi and noticed he lost very much weight (he feels as heavy as a normal snail now)i looked through the breatinghole and quess what, empty! His behaviour is like a snail who layed eggs (very hungry) and some of the babies have a shell with the same color as the egg had. I inspected the babies and some of them have a bit yellow/white layer of eggscale stuff between the shell cracks. As if the eggscale intergrated completely in the shell itself. They are very big, a three times bigger than a normal babie that is hatched recently. So they must have lived in the snails body for a few weeks, (as long as the ball excist at least. In the beginning of february (when i thirst got him), this rodatzi showed normal looking eggs inside his shell, but he never layed them. Then appeared those strange big eggs (that moved from the breathinghole to more deep in the shell) and stay there for weeks! Yesterday i found the clutch of big marble babies with grey, yellow and orange shells and the rodatzi is empty. so... 1+1 makes 2? in this case 1+1 makes 30... It couldn't be hybreds, because he was allready pregnant while he came with me. The previous owner told me, they are never kept in a mixed tank.

Wowsers!! Selena, very weird and interesting!
The pile of babies that appeared in my tank were small, about egg size. They are growing all right, mom Halonen recovered with some good food like I expected and all seems fine.
Now I just want to see if Taavetti is up to something weird like that as well as he too carried the big egg thing that isn't visible anymore. I must check his burrow.

Etana, i just made some picture so you can see how they look like with your own eyes. The rodatzi layed those babies on the surface of the soil. They were al sticked to each other like a bunch. Their shells have a pearl-ish shine! I thought they were marbles or fake when i found them.
This is one (not even the biggest) comparing to a big, normal fulica egg)
the second picture, look at the shine and grey-ish color, it looks like the egg thing isn't it? the third picture some brothers and sisters of his kind, very light yellow and orange big shells. I watched the babies closely and they have a few shades of grey (not 50) bodie, yellow eyeballs and a slyghty flat head (like riodatzis have) do they look like yours? I was looking for pictures of rodatzi babies, but i couldn;t find it. If they lived in the shell of their mom for weeks, its likely the reason they haven't developed much pigment. Babies looking very healthy, eat much and being active a lot. Mom is doing well also... its hard to believe but its truth
Its pretty exiting, isn't it??

Etana, did you see the pictures i have made for you (previous post)??
I'm so curious if you recognise them and look how big they are!
They are active now, so i can look to them closely and its very clear they are rodatzi's, they allready have the particular nice cocky head and colors.
The next owner also told me that rodatzi eggs are slightly bigger than fulica eggs, but they lay less eggs. so it could be usefull for you to recognise Taavettis offspring (if he has)

Selena yes I did see the pics, very very interesting! The babies that were given birth to here certainly weren't that big, they were otherwisely like recently hatched babies (size wise), only they were very clean, shiny and in a tight little pile. That and there weren't many, I think 20. I've been restricted to my phone for some time now, and the forum is kind of painful to use with it, hence my slow & short msgs. Perhaps tonight it'll be my turn to have the only working laptop. One can always hope I guess.

Meh, I got ill in the evening, but now I have laptop-napped the laptop...!! Well no, the others are just sleeping. So. Here comes some better commenting. Most of the babies here seem to have a wide soft face like mom Halonen, in fact so wide and soft that some of them are getting called Fat Cartmans. The ones that were given birth to are still so small that I am not 100% sure about the shape of their heads (and I can't find a magnifying glass right now), but I don't see them developing any stripes, they're very yellow. I do think Taavetti is their other parent, but I can't find any clutches laid by Taavetti. Well, except that someone seems to be dropping strangely large, single test eggs on top of the soil. That could be Taavetti, or also the lovesick teen Tauno, though I didn't see them developing inside him, whereas Taavetti is empty now.

Hi Etana,
The previous rodatzi owner told me recently: Rodatzi use to have bigger eggs than the normal fulica;s do. They have commonly less eggs and from time to time, they should just shoot away single eggs on the substrate, like test eggs, but it happened more regulary with rodatzis.
So there are more indications its likely the loose big eggs came from Taavetti. Yesterday i saw baby rodatzi's with someone and they just look like normal baby fulica's. they don;t even look like my rodatzi;s (their shell colors) I saw a picture of a babyJadatzi (the albino variation of rodatzi) and i recognised the colors in my babies. So my marble clutch could be a mix between rodatzi and jadatzi i guess. Its possible, because they do have mate.

Etana, i just found a picture of real rodatzi kids (someone sales them on a local site) and they DO look exactly like my marble babies!! also with the different shades of orange, yellow and white! I'm going to sent her an email and ask her how big they were when layed by the mother. I'm wondering now why the 'rodatzi babies' wich i saw yesterday were looking like normal fulica's... a bit odd. Maybe my rodatzi layed normal rodatzi kids, only the size and way he gave birth wasn't normal.
I show you the picture if i get her permission to post it overhere. so You could recognise the babies directly if they come from Taavetti.
