i currently have 6 amber snails in a 29 gallon tank! here is their set up! here's individual pics of the original 5! see if you can find them all- one snail is the focus of each pic! (some are easy LOL) here's some more pics of my babies <3 you can see the food going into this one!! also- they LOVEEEE!!! romaine lettuce! (and have been rewarding me with lots of eggs!! none have hatched though) i've also been caring for a slug (separately) i'm bad at naming tbh so i haven't named anyone yet ;o;; i also used to have two snails in the oxychilus family??? but i couldn't figure out their diet because i wasn't sure exactly what kind of snail they were and i didn't want to kill them so i released them (and haven't seen any since tbh)... it's probably better because my dad is going to be searching for some bigger snails for me!! (he is a landscaper so he sees a lot!) they were super cool though, i'd never seen this kind of snail before!! and this is right before i released them! these are all the pics i have for now!! i hope to have more later, :-3c

Adorable snails. Is Succinea the only species type you keep?

Adorable snails. Is Succinea the only species type you keep? thank you! so far it is because those are what are abundant in my area. there's honestly so much that i only have to take one glance at the ground and there's a ton of em! the only other snail i've found around here are the oxychilus but my dad is gunna be lookin for bigger types of snails while landscaping for me! crossin my fingers he'll find some so i can expand my species of snails!!

for you onyx! so since i was here two of my amber snails died. i'm not sure why. i am going to keep their shells. i added 6 more a couple days ago because my tank is so large.. and then... i just noticed today- there's hundreds of baby snails ALL OVER THE TANK NOW!!! THEY ARE SO CUTE! see the lil bubble under my watermark? A BABY! and that black amber snail is not even a full 2cm! ONE ON MY NAIL!! i'm sooo excited!! i've been waiting so long for SOME eggs to hatch! now i'm overrun LMAO. but my mom's friend, vicki, her daughter lizzy, who is 8, is always saying, "i wonder why the snail eggs didn't hatch.." and now i can finally tell her there's babies!!!!

I'm fairly certain your amber snails died of natural causes. Most amber snails only live about a year. And congratulations on the babies!

Tiny flies seem to present more of a problem than large ones when it comes to snails :I

Wow, nice find! Cepaea don't need any special care, a standard terrarium and diet (fruit/veg, cuttlebone, & protein) is all they need.

I own many cepaea n's and I find they prefer hard foods ( cucumber, carrot, sweet potato.) to soft, leafy greens.

Northsnails, mine are the opposite kind of. They kind of love everything from dark green lettuce to cucumbers and carrots. Or maybe they're just little piggies!

Really? I heard that they all like different foods. I have a wild snail that will only eat plums and reindeer lichen!

hey everyone! just wanted to give an update! i no longer have amber snails, they weren't thriving for some reason... :-(
but i do still have my grove snail and i am doing my absolute best to care for him! it's a lot easier caring for one big one than many small ones!
its kinda chilly lately so he's been hibernatin but i have found he LOVES carrots, he also did end up eatin some romaine, and he likes algae wafers!!
maybe i will post some pics later! ^___^

the lil bugger has been hibernatin a lot but today he finally decided to be active! i cleaned his container/held him/gave him more food/ and took pics! it's a rare day when he lets me hold him so tht made me happy! i'm very proud that he's doing so well- i tend to have a problem with forgetting about small animals (anything smaller than a rabbit) to be honest.. i've been very diligent with him though. i'm very happy, he's so cute

Nice colors on that little fellow! For sure you are taking very good care of him, that is a nice spacious tank.
