Got three in from a trade. A yellow phase, an orange phase, and a maroon phase. The yellow and maroon are doing fine, but the orange is still aestivating. Hopefully it will come out soon. Here are a couple a pictures. They are drop dead gorgeous in person!! I need more!!! Went to Miami today, and was going to go collect some, but the park they are found in was closed. -_-

Those are some high-quality pics! Does the orange one have a seal on the shell, or just retracted deeply?

There is a slight seal. White film, but there is a slit where I guess he can still come out. I guess it is a little bit of both. Lol.

So gorgeous! Which park do you find them in? If I ever visit Florida in the coming years, I want to check it out lol.

I will let HelixPomatia give that information if he would like to. He is the one that told me of the park. :-) Here is another picture of the maroon. I am so in love with this guy. He is not shy like the others. I need more of this phase!

Yeah, I guess it's fine lol. I don't think a handful of snail collectors on this forum would wipe out the population. The site is "The Barnacle state park/historic site". If you go check the hours, apparently they close early and every other day? I guess I just got really lucky when I went because it was open and I never checked their hours assuming it was open 24/7. I thought it was a forest preserve area but it's really just a historic house and yard in uptown coral gables. I actually thought I was in the wrong place when I drove down the street to it.

Do you know of anyone that breeds this species in the US? I would like more of the maroon ones. Doubt I'll get to go back to Miami any time soon.
All three were out roaming around last night. The orange one is the shyest snail I have ever encountered. I took out the bark I had in there originally and gave them a few inches of leaf litter to nibble on and hide in. Hopefully babies soon! You said yours laid eggs, didn't you HelixPomatia? How are they doing?

I never heard of these until I looked up FL snails on jaxshells a few weeks before my trip in July.I might be the only "supplier" here lol. Mine haven't laid eggs, but I have observed them breeding. Maybe I gave away the ones that were breeding by dumb chance, idk, lol. maybe they will lay eggs in the next few weeks.

Orthalicus floridensis populations are not too far away from the Barnacle so maybe you could get lucky with those too. (why, oh why, didn't i stay an extra three hours to find them -_- lol)

Thanks! If I find a lot of them I could ship them to you but I still have to ask my mom.

That would be amazing! but no pressure I know snail hunts either turn out great or terrible. I have some location data for those too if you would like me to pm it to you.
