What's the best way to do this? Because of the location I was thinking the membrane inside of an eggshell around area LARGER than "hole" and then, bcuz of snail small size, eggshell curvature too big so I'll use a piece of broken snail shell from another species [B. Similaris] which I have a couple empty shells of. Baby was hiding under tank and got crushed. At first was I'm shock and pain and twisting his body all over the place, so breathed out a small bit of Marijuana smoke onto it (sorry it's all I could think of to relieve his pain) and he is calmed down, so I was able to get the shards of shell off. One was right over his rapidly beating heart somehow didn't poke it. His heart rate is slower and he is partially in his shell now. Opinions? Ideas? Help? In image u can see break. Black part that is partially exposed is I think the gut, then to the left of that the exposed area that has a sort of lighter oval on it - thats his heart. There is also a line break vertically from near columella to suture between body whorl and 2nd whorl up. Most concerned about exposed heart as he has already tried to press his foot over it.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Most of the time when I see threads that involve broken shells and what not, I'd normally tell people to give the snail a cuttle bone and maybe move it to a tank with a low ceiling height to prevent high falls. When I saw "broken shell over the heart" I kind of thought that there wasn't much that could be done, but you did say that you managed to fix it before it died, so that's good.

I agree with cashell, but breathing smoke on it could kill it...

So sorry to hear about this. I lost one of my favourite snails to a little hole right over the heart.
