I have a small aquarium with only a moss ball in it and I was thinking of adding an aquatic snail to it.
Since the aquarium is on the small side, I was looking for one of the smaller spieces but I don't know much (meaning nothing) about them, do you have ideas? If no spiece can fit in a small space I'd understand, I'd prefer no pet than a sick and unhappy one.
Ps: I live in Canada and I'm aware some spieces are illegal here.

Ramshorn snails and nerite snails are both easy to care for species and do well in a smaller setup, as long as it's not overcrowded, a few snails in a five to ten gallon should be happy. Ramshorn snails come in a lot of color morphs, and nerite snails are very vibrant as well. Of course, there's always the basic pond snails that are quite common, and have a habit of ending up in aquariums accidentally. With a smaller setup, you'd probably have to be vigilant about egg removal/population control. I have no idea about the legality of aquatic snails in Canada, but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be able to help

In terms of aquatic snail care, I'm no expert, but unlike land snails, most aquatic snails are actually legal and easy to import. Finding local aquatic snails in pet stores should actually be easy too, but if whatever reason you wanted something fancy or exotic that can't be found locally, then it shouldn't be much of a hassle to get them imported, but you can contact this group for further information if you aren't sure about something or a particular species.

Another shout for nerite snails, here. I keep a few small ones, Clithon corona, in my aquarium. They require brackish water, rather than freshwater, to breed so population booms are unlikely. I've attached a URL that has some useful information. www.planetinverts.com/horned_nerite_snail.html
