Great pic, he's just like how my Halonen used to be (she recently passed away). Does he have a name?

The children at school named him Currie, my partner has nicknamed him Slowly, and I just call him Bloop... I'm sorry to hear about Halonen. However, reading some of your threads about your other snails I get the impression she would have led the best life a snail could ask for. She'll be munching on sweet potato somewhere with Ewert and Co I'm sure of it

Such a lovely snoot! I love him 10/10! (I'm so jealous of people who can legally own GALS)

Aw, but he was a lucky snail when he got to spend the summer with you. Have you considered getting a giant snail or a pair (for funny snaily interactions) now that you're familiar with the care?

Although I do wonder what they're going to say when I turn up with a 125l tank instead of the 18l one he was given in Oh yes, I'll definitely be getting a pair of GALS in the future, it's just a matter of when...

He looks so happy and curious! Have you been able to see him at school? I see him once or twice a week for 5-10 minutes at a time. I feel a bit like a crazy snail lady every time I go and see him though, otherwise I would go every day and for much longer!

I agree - I think all of my favourite photos of him are the ones where he has his head up and "looking" around inquisitively. Oh gosh, 5 fulica and 2 tigers!? That's amazing! So envious of you

If it was a furry animal they'd understand perfectly I'm sure..but I've decided I'm too old to waste my time being embarrassed about my little friends. Yes it sometimes leads to stupid conversations about "is it not slimy?" and "will you eat it?" but sometimes they will even come back later and imply they're sorry! Give him a little veggie treat from me!

Man, it stinks that you can't see him as often. Don't let other people decide what you can do, though! Don't feel embarrassed about loving a pet! He's absolutely adorable. I hope to move to England someday and get one, but that's pretty unlikely. Am I the only one who thinks that they need to sell snails like Cepaea Nemoralis and Helix Aspersa in pet shops?

Unfortunately I don't think they'd sell so well since they're so common in the wild. Why buy one from a shop when you can just pick them off the ground after it rains?

No need to go so far... If those two species are what you really want, then it would make more sense to move to a state like Washington or Oregon, which not only has both, but also forestsnail species like monadenia fidelis, allgona townsendiana and many more. Of course, to move anywhere just for snails would be silly IMO, so you'd also want consider other more serious things as well like the job market, schools and what not. What a big, lovely snail! I think paracosmic was talking about a shop for their local state, but if not, then you're right about it being pointless in England, as I hear that those two species are common as dirt there.

To kaidashade and cashell, I was actually talking about moving to England to get a GALS. It sounded a lot like I was talking about H. aspersa and C. nemoralis, but I was just adding that onto there because I think snails should be recognized as pets. Sorry for the confusion -paracosmic
