They're kind of lethargic, is this normal for new snails?

Helix pomatia are really, really slow. Even for snails.

Thanks for the reply. I just like watching them crawl up the tank glass but they just sit around all day but when I look back in their tank they've eaten all the lettuce I put in then just go back into their shells. They don't seem to touch the cuttlefish bone I put in the tank.

These things sure can devour some lettuce!

These things sure can devour some lettuce! That's good to know. I've read that their shells being almost a white color means that they are fully mature so that explains that. Should I change it out like say once a month for a fresh one or just leave the old one? I have no problem leaving it in I'm just not sure if they can get sick if it stays in too long? And they sure can! I need to get to the store and pick up some kale or something as I feel the darker greens are probably more nutritious for them. I tried carrot slices but they seemed to prefer the lettuce. I know fruits mold pretty quickly but do you happen to know if they also eat apples or bananas as quickly as lettuce? I feel the moisture from the apples would be perfect for them but not sure if it's considered too acidic or not.

I keep the cuttlebone for a while just rinse it when it gets dirty.
My aspersa eats apple, the peel mostly. The cepaea sometimes eat it and sometimes ignore it. I can't remember if I've offered it to pomatia.

Would it be safe for pomatia. If you've fed it to aspersa and others I would assume so but I'm still hesitant to just stick it in with them. Also, what about banana peels? I feed those to my mealworms and they love them. I know I should just look at the safe foods list but I'm too lazy, lol. Thanks for the help though.

Thanks for chiming in fellow pomatia owner! I figured they were safe but just wanted to be sure! Apples it is! They just do not like and I can't blame them. Not too fond of the stuff myself.

So some sad news, one of my snails died. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, it wouldn't come out of its shell as often as the others but nothing really stood out to me that it wasn't doing well, then I came home the other day and checked up on them and noticed a cream colored liquid around it and I immediately knew that's not normal. I never really smelled them before so I don't know how they smell but he kind of stunk. I was hoping he wasn't dead but I knew he was but I left him in for the remainder of the night and the next morning when he hadn't moved or gone back into his shell, it was a tough loss. Haven't named them or anything but I still want them to be happy and comfortable. Any thoughts on this guys passing? I don't know if it was natural or something I fed them? If you need me to answer some questions to figure out the problem I'll be mor than happy to try and answer as best I can. Thank you.

They look to be adult size so it probably died of old age.
