I'm Owlkitties, you can call me Owl. I recently moved to the pacific northwest. I found myself living in a travel trailer for the time being. Though I have love for pets of the finned and scaled variety, a trailer is not hospitable for their needs I noticed my mom had a lot of snails roaming around her property. The idea hit me. I have heard about GALS but alas they are illegal in the states. So i figured i would keep some normal garden snails. Did my research, set together a large jar and went hunting. I wanted smaller snails so I could watch them grow and so the adjustment to pethood would not be too traumatic. So i found Zoot and Misha. They were dime sized and were together in a pot. Turbo came next, I rescued him from a supposed "big" storm. My intent was to release him but my mom named him...
I have had these three since september. It is a learning experience, but the seen happy ebough. I got attatched to them so quickly. I feel horrible when accidents happen, and they do happen to all good pet owners. My favorite, Zoot, cracked his shell durring a cage cleaning fiasco involving a curious snail and his chunk of drift wood. However through it all that have become huge beautiful snails. I would like to note, they stayed in the large jar for a couple nights then to an extra large vritter keeper; they just got moved from that to a five gallon permanent tank. I have no idea what kind that are. The most I could find was European brown garden snails. They are far from brown though. Over the months they have become pretty prominent in my household and subjects of my pictures. I have an obbsession with an editing app so I am sure you all will see tons of them. When it warms up I hope to get my hands on a Pacific Sideband as well.
Anyway here's the trio, and can't wait to be an active member in the forum!
PS: That's Turbo in my profile picture.
