Hey everyone! What kinds of tanks do you keep your aquatic snails in? I'm going to be setting one up for some mystery snails this summer. Any advice on keeping mystery snails is appreciated! Thanks

So, quick update: I just purchased a ten gallon tank with 15+ apple snails already established. I'm super excited about it! It's been too long since I had an aquarium.

If your nitrates are in check then you are probably fine, just keep up on the water changes.

Hi littlegoldsnail, the guy I got them from definitely had too many in there, I split them up into other tanks soon after. Unfortunately they didn't fair too well with the water changes, and I'm left with one currently. I'm hoping to get more once I have a fully cycled tank with all the parameters in order!

That’s good, I would recommend some seachem prime, it temporarily binds to ammonia for 24-48 hours in between water changes keeping it safe for fish and snails while still leaving the ammonia available for nitrifying bacteria. It can be a life saver (literally) when cycling. You can also get some tetra safe start or something to help establish your good bacteria (it really helps). I hope he does okay (cycling can be stressful for snails). 25-40% water changes every 1-2 days and adding prime with each change is the most important thing to keep him safe while doing a snail-in cycle.
