Hi everyone!
I thought that we could share our snails' names and why they're named like this here! What do you think? Don't forget to say the species to evitate confusion!
Here are mine:
Cepaea nemoralis
-Rainbow. He's the only one not having a food name because... he wasn't mine. He used to be flowersnail 's, he's one of her original babies. She called him Rainbow, and when I've told her about my interest for snails, she's given him to me with another snail (coming back to him in a sec). I didn't want to change his name, so he's Rainbow. I don't know where it comes from.
-Lemonade. As I said earlier, when my big sister gave me Rainbow, she also gave me another snail. He had a beautiful green shell, so I've called him Lemonade. His name is very ironic, because I hate lemonade (not the snail, the drink). Go, say I'm weird, I don't mind! He's always the first to get to the turtle pellets when there are some! He's my best friend's favorite.
-Peanut. I bought her to Cashell , a snail seller (if you don't know him), along with Choco, Cappuccino and Marble (coming back to them later). Her name is the most ironic, because she's my favorite snail, but I hate peanuts (I know, I'm the weirdest person ever) and my brother is allergic to them. I picked this name up because it's cute! I thought it would fit a snail very well. Peanut also has a yellow shell and black lines, so the name definitely fits her!
-Choco. He was bought too, and he doesn't have an ironic name AT ALL. My favorite food is chocolate. For my birthday dessert (a familial tradition), I wanted chocolate flavoured cake with chocolate icing and chocolate-flavoured ice cream! Coming back to Choco, he's very cute and if he had a longer name, it would be Milk Chocolate because of his shell.
-Cappuccino. He was an unexpected snail, a bonus. Actually, the name comes from my father. He likes coffee very much, and since his shell (not my father's, my snail's) was dark brown, my father suggested me Cappuccino, and the name stayed. Once again, his name is ironic, I don't like coffee. His favorite passtime is to be on the top, close to the lid.
-Marble. He's another unexpected one, a toilet paper eater. He was the only brown snail with a line, so I thought about Marble because of marbled cake (a bicolored cake). It definitely fits him, and he doesn't have an ironic name either (for once!). He's so cute!
Cepaea hortensis
-Lemon. I've found him in the wild. He has a very special shell, it looks like it's reflecting light! It reminded me of lemon pulp, so that's where the name comes from. His name is ironic too, I don't like lemons either! I know, I'm weird! Anyway, Lemon is a very active snail, and his pale body is amazing!
Unconfirmed Cepaea (yet)
-Cupcake. He was found in the wild, along with Lemon and Berry (I'll come back to her later). His red shell was so amazing! It reminded me of a cupcake with chocolate syrup on it, so his name was Cupcake. He's my second favorite. I thought he was a hortensis, but since his age line got black, I want to see him breed before saying his confirmed species.
-Berry. She was found in the wild and has a very special shell. In French, her name is "Baie des Champs". I initially wanted to call her "Baie", but since it confused my brother (he thought his name was a letter because in French, b sounds like bĂŠ), I took Baie des Champs. In English, it's Berry, because I didn't think Fieldberry was a good name.
You can share your snails' names, origins and descriptions if you want, it'll be fun!
Have a nice day!
