Hi,
I registered to be able to find homes for some snails. We took some shells home from the beach in Exuma, Bahamas. Since they were way up in the dry hot sand I assumed it was an abandoned shell. I never considered the fact that snails could be living in them. I always assumed any shell on dry land near the beach was vacant. I never considered land snails could be living in them. I always assumed they were either inhabited by species of crabs or if they were snails, they would be aquatic snails,
thus being on dry sand way above the high tide mark, they would be deceased.
Currently I have them (about 4 or 5) in a container with air holes, sand from that beach and some pieces of lettuce.
My best guess is they are these. Cerion (Strophiops) caerulescens
I am in New Jersey. Is there any one close that is willing to give them a good home? I would rather not have to ship them as that seems odd. But I guess I would consider it if it's close enough and they would get to the location fast.
Thanks, iso

It may be hard to find someone within New Jersey to take your snails. Shipping / Moving snails across state lines is illegal. It's a hefty fine, too.
