Hi guys! My snails aren’t very active at all and I’m beginning to worry. I have garden snails, they are kept at 70 degrees f, 65-85% humidity. I feed them fresh food everyday, and the only thing I can think of being off might be the soil, it’s just potting soil and I’m not sure if it has an insecticide or repellant or anything. They don’t burrow at all. What’s a good brand of soil to use? Is there something else I’m doing wrong? How often are snails even alert anyway?

What are you feeding them? Fresh produce bought from the grocery store is doused in pesticides, chemicals that are literally formulated in a lab to kill snails among other crop munching critters.
Anything you buy from any commercial store has the potential to be laced with something that you aren't aware of. I haven't specifically heard of potting soils having pesticides in them, but you never know nowadays. Again I haven't looked into that specifically but I'd be willing to speculate that regulations are a joke when it comes to that sort of thing.
Aside from chemicals being the issue, snails are mainly active at night time. So you generally won't see them out and about during the day. It's part of their instinctive behavior to hide during the day to avoid predators.
