Sorry I put this comment / question in the wrong place on this forum. I'm hope this will be the correct place to post my ? I need to help in figuring out what I'm doing wrong that my snails keep dying within 1 to 2 weeks of purchasing them. Every Nerite I've ever gotten has died within a week & the mystery snail within a few months. They r in a 10g heated/filtered/live planted aquarium with black Fluorite substrate. Last night's check on AMMOMIA & NITRITE levels were 0. I fed them yesterday blanched zucchini squash which they seem to like but they wouldn't touch green beans, repashy or algae wafers. There is nothing else in their tank with them it's just the two of them and I just removed the dead Netite. Please can someone help educate me on how to keep these lovely creatures that I truly enjoy having. After losing 2 beloved betta fish this will be my last endeavor into snail keeping if my two Mysteries pass away also.

How did you acclimate them? Did you get them from a chain pet store? Often change pet stores have inbred and bad stock so I usually buy my snails from a local breeder, I had quite a few random deaths from chain stores. Also, what is your water change schedule? What kind of water conditioner/dechorinator do you use?
