Mine arrived as well, all of them are active and on the roof of they're housing ;D Will get plenty of pics of them later. but unfortunately one is very retracted (still alive, though) and ive put him in a pool of water but he still doesnt come out what shall i do? Maybe just put him in with the other one and leave for 30 mins or so and see if he wakes up? Only two of mine were alert when they arrived, but all the others became active after a short whille.

looks like we should all get them today! ;D Let's start recording any findings here [feeding habits etc] so that everyone has the best chance of success with them.
Brian. ;D

I mean they're from different continents, couldnt they carry different parasites or something, that may be harmful to each other?

oh yeh i never thought of that...hmm...ok i'll put them in a small plastic tub for a few weeks and do regular substrate changes, then move them in with the other snails. theyre so shy they retracted just because i walked into the room, does that mean they can hear?! awww Ivory is on my hand now, so gawwwjus ;D. the other one is called Ebony

should we really mix species from such diverse locations?

Mike,
It is generally thought that snails cannot hear.

yeh as i walked in the room it retracted. i dunno how it knew. it did that a few times. Anyway both of them are really active now and not shy at all (their behaviour changed a bit in the past few hours ;D). The one that was retracted is now devouring a slice of cucumber, so now im pleased cus theyve both had some dinner. i made a section on my website on Lignus and Columna (its at the bottom) www.freewebs.com/worldofsnails/giantafricansnails.htm

I am not good in being patient, so I am virtue-less. ;D I am really bad in waiting for something. Kind regards, Gabi

Oh, I am not waiting for eggs. ;D
Me too is gettin 2 of this beautiful snails. But posting them to Austria needs around 3 days and as we are not getting mail on Saturday, they won´t show up before Monday. It´s very rare that things from Great Britain are here within 2 days.
Kind regards,
Gabi

In case those of you who are waiting are worried, I've only sent out snails that have fed. There are still some to send, but untill I know that they are feeding, they don't go! I'm working my way down the list, in the order that I got it

Patience may be a virtue, but I sure as hell don't have it!! The snails arrived with 6 eggs (I think), 2 of which I'm hoping have my name on. Rofl not literally though. Too small to write on me thinks hahaha.

Did I read somewhere that these are in fact tree snails?? If so then perhaps a pool of water would feel somewhat strange to them.
