I gots an idea for the society. we could set up a different surrvey for each magazine. For example, certain snails are more common in certain areas of the UK so we could do a surrvey to find out exactly which snails we have in our gardens, how many etc....

That's a great idea, there was the Great British snail hunt, I wonder if we can get their data to build on top of, coz they covered loads of people. I imagine the results will show distribution rather than how common they are because the data is unlikely to be fair and even weighted.

good idea. I was on another thread (talking to thegreatloofa) and I realised I'd only ever seen yellow Cepaea nemoralis and it got me wondering if the colours co-ordinate with where they are from. Like some might be at an advantage to be yellow and some would be at an advantage if they were red etc...(you don't need me to explain evolution)..............so the colours would depend on the environment. I thought we could do a surrvey about that.

theres been surveys like that done too. for my a - level biology non ecology we had a snail survey on the shell colours and aptterning of the cepeas
