Now that we have a name, we could get down to basics.
I believe that we agreed that the ISS would be divided as follows:
1) Scientific
(Obtaining information, collaborating with universities etc...)
2) Cultural
(Competitions, information to general public, publicity etc...)
3) Welfare
(Pet shops, Brixton market, petitions etc...)
So maybe we could start by stating in which of the three areas we are willing to work.
Once groups are formed we can open seperate threads for each group to work.
What do you think?

I think thats great! I liked the old idea of a newsletter as well, so that we can let others know what we're up to as a whole, and link in the 3 sections.

Thanks for agreeing, how about you say which group you want to be in? ;D
Leah, I agree that a newsletter would be great and those in charge of it would need to be in contact with the three groups, but I think it should be carried out by group nÂș 2.

I can be in group 1 and 2,as well as 3.However,in my country, snails are hardly sold in petshops and markets so that seems more a thing for people in the UK.

Question for mods:
Is it possible to have a section in this forum for the ISS, and then four subsections, one for each group and a general one?

Only the admin can set this up,and he's really busy with work at the moment. So the best next thing is making separate threads for each group,a general one and the newsletter.

talking of newsletters, a couple of the volunteers have taken a joke i made about a snail magazine to extremes, and now they keep trying to bounce it off me ( i am never talking to them again without pre written lines ), but when i thought about it if a bunch of snail organisations pitched in articles and stuff we could make a quarterly magazine together. If we had the articles and printed them out ourselves (until money trees are real) we could make little homemade ones and sell cheap. Its an idea and i thought i'd bounce it of you all. i'm probally being crazy ( i think i must of forgotten my sanity pills, lol)

Threads are now open. Why not go to the one you are interested in and start posting ideas. Thanks everyone.

I would like to know if the society is really international whether you will accept any articles in foreign languages. If so maybe I could contribute in some way..? I am currently logged in as a member on NINE snail sites so it would be nice if this idea unites them in some way. There are snail-sites in foreign languages, but in general there is far more concerned with cuisine than pet snails...maybe there is room for some re-educating..? My ressources are limited but if I can be involved by helping out then I am interested. If it's just a 'pay-up' version of this forum, then I'm afraid I'm not interested.

I guess that the main language of the ISS will be English.Having said that however I can't see it being a problem when people send in articles in their native language(with or without an English translation). As far as I know it's done on a free and voluntary basis.
