*Not sure if this is the right section?* Anyone know if Helix lucorum snails are native to the United Kingdom? Both these are listed as Helix lucorum, I may have a chance to get some of these snails from europe, but would like to know if I could collect them myself I have found very little information on them

Just found the information I needed... "Helix lucorum, sometimes called "escargo turc," measures about 45mm across the shell. It is found in central Italy and from Yugoslavia through the Crimea to Turkey and around the Black Sea" www.nal.usda.gov/afsic/AFSIC_pubs/srb96-05.htmDoesnt mention them being native to the UK, I may obtain some of these from Italy soon

They're not native to the UK, they're from Turkey originally but have spread to mediterranean countries.

How did you get on with finding Helix lucorum, and where did you get them from ? I have found some in the wild and am trying to work out how they got here. If they available commecially in the UK I'd like to find out. Cheers, Mick.

Outside of their original distribution area, Helix lucorum only are found south of Vienna and in the south and southwest of France where they have been introduced.
