I'm thinking, is this probably the right place to 'centralise' information as we learn anything about these snails? There are assorted facts and observations dotted about on various threads at the moment, which makes it difficult to collate

Apart from cucumber, we've got cherry leaves and sweet potato, and apple, (the fruit not the leaves!) Anything else?

mine spend most of there time on the lid too but I can see trails where they have been all over the tank during the night. they have eaten loads of cucumber (literally loads!) I have just given them 3 different kinds of leafy lettuce to see if I can temp them. I have been putting there food high in there tank on the top branches and they have been reaching down from the roof and eating it. (eating upsidedown! ) When startled they take ages to come back out but I guess that's understandable considering the last few weeks of travel they have had. They havent paid much attention to the cuttlefish yet.

My Lignus hasnt eat any of the plum leaves, I dont think? if they have they havent eaten much. Some of the leaves had been eaten by bugs outside before introducing them to the lignus, so its hard to tell how much they've eaten of it.
They've used the branches to climb though, so im leaving them in there, at the moment they've only definitly eaten cucumber.

My lignus ate last night a lot of the cherry-trea-leaves and from Iceberg a huge amount. I did stick the salad on the branches. They are eating then hanging from the lid. I was amazed how much such little snails can eat! So you can try Iceberg-salad.

Sticking the food up the branches must be a good idea, will make them eat more 'naturally' Val

I got today one of my lignus to eat from a rasped apple and cuttlefish mixture. The other was retracting when I put them out of their tank, but hope him to to get to eat from that. They too have started to eat their shell a bit.

As long as you put cucumber in, they won´t eat anything else, when I put out the cucumber they eat whatever is in. ;D At least mine do so.

I took out all the leaves last night and gave them curly lettuce. By this morning they had eaten some of it. It seems they will eat more of less anything now although if there is cucumber in there then they always choose that! ;D

ventilation could be a factor mike, these are treesnails, an enclosed environment might not be the best?

i put them in another tank, with more ventilation, but they still dont do much, i dont think they eat much anymore how does everyone else care for them so well? i'll try and get a tree branch for them to climb on, but 1 of them is so retracted. ohhh i hate having ill snails it makes me feel like i've failed them.

Mine are all day inactive. They come out at night, when it is completely dark in the room to eat and move back after eating to just hang around again. During the day they are hanging on the lid of the tank and not moving at all. They are not eating a lot but they are pooping every day, so I think it is enough what they get (poo is too hanging on the lid. ;D And they have stopped eating their shells, but still not eating cuttlefish. Apple and cucumber are their favourites.
Mike, are yours on the ground of the tank?

mine just sit on the lit or on the side. im not sure if theyre active at night, thats why i put them in another tank to keep an eye on them. cucumber is the only thing they eat and the cucumber in there doesnt seem to be getting smaller

Mine are in this 40cm tank and I put a plastik on the lid that it doesn´t dry out so quick but gets ventilated well from the sides. And I keep the tank pretty wet, waterdrops are dripping from the lid.

After loads of activity the past days (the lignus where nearly not resting during the days or nights and showed interest in each other - but never have seen them mate) now the smaller of them is burried in the soil since the last night. Keep you updated.... ;D

one of them died. all that happened is it fell over..and just died so i decided to make the other one's life much better. i put all the small snails into a big plant propagator (60cm length) and made it REALLY wet. then i went to IKEA (ahhh) and i got 2 branches of lucky bamboo and put them down. and i also had another idea. in the lid of the propagator is these slots for ventilation, and i stuck some cucumber inbetween them so they were poking down from the lid. and the snail started eating the cucumber!!! i was very pleased, i shall put more food in the slots in the lid from now on.
