Let us know how they get on - I bet they'll love their new home!

They both seem to like their new home , takes me about 10 mins to find them cause there so wee in the big tank, there both about 10 weeks old but one of them...Alucard,is alot bigger than the other one Atari they also dont seem too interested in each other, theve both picked dif sides of the tank hehe, i had to get everything out of one side of the tank a few days ago cause i saw something wriggling around and it was a millipede, wasn’t sure what kind so i got it out and put it in a tub with soil and moss and kept it damp but it died after a couple of days ..and tonight i noticed a woodlice has moved in

Woodlice are good - clean up the poo I'll be investing in some more when I've done the hypoapsis malarkey to permanently get rid of the mites. Not seen any for a while now, but some of my snails aren't growing as quickly as they were, so I want to play safe. Love the names for your snails (more of an X-Box fan, but Alucard is a classic!) ;D Anyhoo back to storage tub set ups - I finally managed to get hold of some more of the big tubs (I posted pics earlier in this thread when I got the original ones), so my immacs have all moved into one, and I'm just about to set the tigers up in the other. I've got all my margies (2 adult ovums, 1 adult albino suturalis, 1 juvenile/small ovum x suturalis) in one of the original big tubs, the other Kathy's got for some of her snails. So I'm putting my albino suturalis in with the tigers, until she gets an albino suturalis friend (they'll get their own tub then), and the three remaining margies will stay in the big tub. So apart from the temporary situation for albino margie - that'll be all my snails in same species tanks, as the retics have their own already, and the fulicas have two. No decent piccies as this was all a rather rush job, but here's the immacs in their new big tub: I'll post piccies of the tigers one later I really recommend these tubs though - they're big, they stack, and they're cheap: www.plasticboxshop.co.uk/index.asp?function=DISPLAYPRODUCT&productid=134

Ah well I'm not fussed as they were delivered to my door, I cant get out and about to the shops, and no-one in town sells them that big anyway - closest is the 80L ones we got from either B&Q or Do it All.

Yeh and lots fo those ar bot very translucent, or do not have clip down lids and tend to be a bit more expensive.

Here is a smartstore box with 2 juvenile fulicas. They love the eastern grass growing there! ;D They will soon get a bigger box though, so I can fit hiding place for them.

Hmmm my fulica babies are only little at the moment but when they get bigger I'd love to set them up a box like these. I have a big storage box with clip on lid, how will they get ventilation though? Do I just make some holes in the lid? Also bit worried i might not be able to see in well enough to see if they're on the lid before opening it. I'll have to have a look. And I'll look out for some plants too - those stick on hanging ones look great!!! At the moment they have a half coconut with an opening and they hide in there. But I think there may come a time when they won't fit!!!!!

I´ve got storage box for my reticulatas...exactly two. There is three of those living in the first one and two in the second. The boxes are about 15 L. Only one of these snails is growing well. They are now 6 months old and four of them between 3.5-4.5 cm and the big one is nearly 7 cm. What should I do, can I keep the big one with the second biggist or do I have to separate it ? I´ve got one 30 L storage box empty, can I put all the reticulatas in it or is it too dangerous for the small ones ? Here picasaweb.google.fi/hette00/Achatina/photo#5160511821657949458 is the photo of the box. The big reticulata has grown a lot from that photo but its friend hasn`t.

I think for H aspersa you would need at least 20L for 7 snails, any less would be pushing it really. For the GALS you'd better wait for someone more experienced with these snails.
I would like to ask, with the storage boxes, what do you do to get air-holes into the lids? I have been tempted by these boxes but I don't want my snails to suffocate. Do you just drill/ stab holes in or something. Even then it is not as well aeriated as a viv..?

You just need to drill enough holes to the lid and sides too . But something under the lid or box to that part where you are going to make holes...piece of plank or something like that...otherwise it´s possible that your box will brake.

Also - With Fulica - Dont put anything in that you dont mind being buldosed, when they get bigger... they buldose everything :-) lol, thats true. i actually think helix p are worse though, especially for thier size.

i love storage boxes for keeping snails in because the have much room and an easy to open lid. the clear ones are the best. there is more room to put in plants and pots.
