either we have to be very very very very lucky in finding a pet/invertebrate shop that has them or contact a brazilian person, but i think its illegal for them to send snails out of their country.

What about the guy who had the ones which Paul got? Maybe he has some Brazilian connections.

Well not good. Ive been speaking to a few pet shops etc and I'm not sure. It will be quite difficult I think. It seems most people just get pot luck from importers. Plus, mine are a type that has spread. Getting South American snails may be quite difficult, but Mike did it through a contact ;D
We just need to find Brazilians who can export. That's why this gastropod society needs starting, we can hopefully get more international members on here.

Val, getting more oblongus is probably doable as they've spread beyond South America. And we know we can get snails from Barbados. They've also reached Martinique apparently. But the place I got them from didn't want to help me get more from him. If they get new snails (from Nigeria this time but I'll get a look at their other sheet if I can) in a few months as they said they may, I'll go down and sneakily find the dealers number on their sheet. And try and contact him directly.

5 weeks is up for the first eggs and they haven't hatched. I held them up to the light to see if I could see an embryo but nothing I can discern. I'm still keeping them, I have some in warm places, some in room temperature, some wet, some not so wet. Don't worry, if they do hatch there will be an accouncement....

Ok, I have good and bad news. The bad news is that the majority of eggs are liquid inside and have not developed one bit. The good news is that I have hatched one!! He's very shy, not eating much so I hope he pulls through. All the other eggs in the same condition were liquid so I think it is luck rather than conditions.
Pictures to follow.....

If you are wondering about the egg shell. He's eaten all the albumen but he hasn't been eating the shell bit at all now for 36 hours. So I've put some other food in coz I'm worried.
