About three weeks ago I put a large silk fake plant in my Pleurodonte isabella tank. It hasn't harmed the snails in any way but they don't bother with it or care for it at all, they don't climb it or stick themselves under the leaves at all like they do with the live plants so it is basically just a decoration in the tank. vallery Interesting, My P isabella love their silk plant and are often among the leaves likewise my Hadra webbi are always up amongst the plastic leaves of another plant. Baby GALS loved my silk and plastic plants until they got to big to sit on them without the leaves flopping completely over (some still try however ). I will have to buy some different types to see if they will like them maybe it is the type of fake plant I bought.

My Cepaea nemoralis and Cepaea hortensis breed all year round. Some are awake while others are asleep. There doesn't seem to be any seasonal breeding with mine. My Pleurodonte and Trumpets and slug all do the same thing.

Hi ultrapoi ,
I have accidently tossed a few snails into the garbage bin with the old food before without knowing. Luckily when I opened it up later on they were crawling up the inside of the garbage bag. I am not sure if before this I had done it and lost some because I don't know the exact count in my tanks. So now I check very carefully with a flashlight to make sure I don't do it again. So sorry for your lose.

Very nice andreiamlm , Speedy is a lucky little fellow such a nice home. How does Speedy like it? If you put some English or Baltic or Devils Ivy in Speedy's home he won't eat it and he will have some nice leaves to sleep under and plants to crawl on. Have you tried a little soaked fish flakes on a piece of cucumber? Mine love that. All of my species. vallery:)

Hi Everyone , In regard to my Pleurodonte Isabella and the twisty clear little string left over after they mate (don't know the name of that) I have witnessed several times different snails eating that thing. Is this normal or are they eating it because they are lacking something in their diet? Thank You vallery

My snails LOVE iceburg lettuce. It is their main staple food. I offer many different foods, but they choose the lettuce instead. Why? Is this bad? Hi kbanimallover13 , morningcoffee left a post on this thread Nov. 27 saying " I think the reason iceburg is often quoted as something that shouldn't be fed to snails is that it's thought to be very low on nutritional content". You should check out that post as there is more helpful information on it. vallery

Thank You malacophile and morningcoffe , I will certainly check out the stores for the mentioned lettuce I want to be able to give them all the nutrients they need. It is odd that out of all my species even my slugs that none will touch spinach but good I suppose. Basically all of them eat the same thing sliced carrot, English cucumber, green leaf lettuce and red fringe green leaf lettuce and my l maximus love mushrooms. Not much of a varied diet. But they love this stuff. You wouldn't believe how fast those little trumpets can munch down a piece of cucumber slice, it's bizarre. I have tried fruit but they don't go near that either. I've tried pear and strawberry and grape. Can they eat watermelon? vallery

I just recently was given a tank which is about two feet tall and I have put in a large palm, plus Baltic Ivy and hosta and fern for my Barbados snails and all plants are doing well. Try some of these my tanks are out of direct light and all plants I have tried are doing well. Devils Ivy works well in tanks too.
