A real picture of the snail would be more helpful in assessing the problem

Oh.. They've been awake for maybe three weeks now. I just wonder why I never saw the lump before the eggs came. And also... If they have mated.. Wouldn't two of them lay eggs? Or does one play mommy and the other is daddy? one plays mommy one plays daddy since snails are hermaphrodites (they have both male and female sex organs). in my experience i rarely see the lump with mine but when i see it he is mostly exploring a lot or eating his favourite food i dont know why they do that

How long have they been awake from hibernation? Because its only take a few days for them to mate and lay eggs. Also the bulgy part just means that its either really excited by something or they're ready to mate again.

Hi royweeezy i like your snails by the way heres what i know about the questions you asked:
1. I'm not completely sure about this but from what I know they cant store sperm. They probably had those eggs in them because snails can keep their eggs inside them until the conditions are right for the baby snails to be laid.
2. The eggs are fine they just soaked up some of the humidity from the coconut fiber.
3. The lump on his head is his actual sex organs I'm not sure why they do it but my idea is that they are doing that to show that they're ready to mate and my GALS do it all the time because he's the only one in his habitat hahaha.

HelixPomatia Just a question why soak the cuttlebone in beer? Isn't alcohol bad for snails?

graemepryce Your snail is just fine most likely the chipped off shell would just grow back since its at the very end. just continue to care for him and if you think he needs more care then you can do that. Also if he fell on the plant pot best if you put some cushion on it just in case it happens again you could put sphagnum moss or something like that to at least cushion the hard pot from the snail.

Do you feed them enough calcium and protein? That is mostly the cause of a crusty shell. For calcium I like to feed mine crushed eggshells and for protein a little bit of hard boiled egg yolk.

Hi I fed my G.A.L.S. some peanuts because i read that it contains protein and other good snail stuff. Only problem is I noticed that my snail slowed down after eating it so now I'm wondering if he's okay? Thanks for the help in advance.

Well first of snails cant live purely on smoothies so try to give them normal fruits and vegetables maybe they would like that more. Those snail treats and smoothies are mostly just as their called "treats' which means that they cant have it all the time. Try to just give those treat every few weeks or so. and its a good idea to get a better cage for them as long as its not too big because they might not find the food you put and starve. I'm not really that informed about you snail species so i cant give you extra info about them sorry but i hoped i helped you a bit with this happy snail caring hahaha.

Im guessing you're asking if you can feed boiled chicken liver to achatina fulica and for me its a yes. Because its still meat and since its boiled your snails can eat it the only problem now is will you snails eat it? hahaha

Never add calcium directly to their food, they can get stones in their innards and die if they have too much. Thats true only do it if they don't eat their calcium and they really need it if not put it in a separate dish for them to find.

First of what kind of snails do you have? Are they GALS or normal garden snails? If they're GALS you may need to keep a heat mat during the winter. For humidity if you really want to be precise in the humidity you can buy a humidity meter for reptiles or do what I do which is use the substrate as a meter. hold the substrate and if it feels muddy then its probably too humid if its dry then its dry. For their shells have you been giving them calcium and protein? Yes calcium is important but snails eat dead animals too to get protein and vitamin D which gives them strong shells, try giving them egg yolk overnight and in the morning remove it before it stinks. Also only give protein once a week for snails don't need too much of it, and for me i think a plastic container is good enough in the summer because it will stay in a shady place as long as there is ventilation in the room your snails will be fine. You can see if the enclosure is too hot when it dries up quickly. I'm sorry if i cant answer your questions about winter for i live in the tropics( the Philippines). Hope this helps you good luck:)

Basically snails in the wild would eat dead animals they find in their "adventures" even dead snails, that would give them protein and of course some vitamin d which they need to make strong shells. You can feed them unseasoned meat or do what I do is i feed them the yolk of a hard boiled egg as long as it does not have salt on it. Leave the yolk or piece of meat in the tank over night and in the morning take it out before it starts to smell. Since i started giving my GAL protein his shell would just grow so well and so quickly. Hope this helps you Firoz Taverbi btw nice avatar
