Since this is a snail forum, I am wondering why there isn't a snail graphic available in the drop-down avatar menu? Could one be added?

The currents avs are probably the default generic ones that came with the forum software version in use at the moment. You could always contact the site owner Paul with your suggestion (an admin needs to make a change like that, a mod can't access those settings).
