I had two jades that never grew larger than 3 inches, they had terrible growth and what I describe as dirty albino (not a nice white colour, more smokers yellow) and not very active, they were supposed to be unrelated, but I am not so sure, they were very similar. Anyway I bred them and they had some clutches, the first clutch all died in a week, the second clutch grew to 2cms, then went months without growing and then started to deeply retract, and eventually all died, again not a single survivor. Then I got my third and final clutch, and only 6 eggs actually hatched, 4 survived past 2cm, but now I’ve got to 3cm, 2 died suddenly, and the final two have started to go down the same route as the others by going into deep retraction. I keep them at the same conditions as my breeding fulica group which I don’t have a problem with and have hatched and raised their young without any issues (they are all unrelated, all bought from different people from different parts of the country). I’ve tried different foods, different temperatures, and different substrates, basically anything I could think of but they still die off. One of the adult jades died a few months ago, adult as in maturity but not size (never grew more than 3 inches), and I won’t ever bred from the other ever again. Is this becoming more common this situation? Could it be a genetic issue or something I am doing?
