I've noticed that the baby snails have distinct personality traits and friendships (Wallace spends a lot of time following Simon around and sitting on his shell), but the other night I saw something really cool. The four babies that are related to one another (Simon, Lydia, Calvin and Wallace) had all gone to sleep in the same corner. They were all practically cuddling, their shells touching and clustered together. Has anyone else had similar circumstances in which they saw this behavior?

You may be interested in this thread petsnails.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=problems&thread=10334&page=1It discusses various aspects of snails behaviour from sleep, food tastes, pairing up, to the possiblity of personality. Certainly snails do develop individual preferences but whether or not this is down to personality is unknown, but I suspect it's mainly other factors that give the impression of personailty. Your observations are helpful though, plus it's great to see folk taking a deeper interest in their pets Would you mind please continuing the discussion on the thread in the above link as it's easier than having two similar ones running Thank you

When i took in the rescue fulica group i was surprised at how "close"they were with each other, they all slept in the same spot, they had mass pile ups, i never saw one on its own at any point while i had them all. I never kept a large group of related snails before, when i hatch snails i only have 4 or 6 (not including the recent accident) and i havent really noticed that they were that "close", and in my adult tanks most of them are unrelated and come from different places, other than maybe a couple sleeping in the same corner from time to time i wouldnt say they show any "close relationships". As i say though the rescue group were very "close" and "touch feely"

It could be that the favourable conditions they have found themselves in since being rescued has tricked them into thinking there has been a change of seasons and it's time for snail get-togethers, if you know what I mean. Mine get touchy-feely if I wake them all up and bathe them, even though their usual conditions are humid and they wake up naturally in the evenings.
