Are they both definitely Cepaea Hortensis? Also, how old do you think they are roughly - not old enough for breeding this summer?

I would recommend putting more than one source of calcium in their tank. Wild snails do not always recognise that cuttlefish is a source of calcium. Supplimenting their diet with goldfish flakes is a great way of giving calium and other nutrients to snails, I see it as a kind of multi vitamin for snails. Just sprinkly a few flakes on their food and make sure they are damp, and your snails should eat them. As long as it's just the shell-lip that is damaged then your snail has a good chance of surviving. Yes they are C.hortensis and might breed this year if the damaged snail recovers enough.

Thank-you very much for the advice , I have always been nervous to feed my snails goldfish flakes - are they definitely safe? If so, I would love to include them into my GALS recipe (I really enjoy mashing and cooking things for the snails)!

I provide moistened fish flakes for my snails regularly (once a week).

I do the same as Coyote. The snails really love the stuff!

Thanks, that's great. The Albopictas will be getting some later today, once I come back from the aquarium shop!

I saved two Cepaea Hortensis snail like this about three months ago. I now have 50+ CH babies and three more batches of eggs yet to hatch. My two would do courtship display every night!!! If they have the right conditions they will breed (like mad)
