my albino retic has just laid loads of eggs, the problem is will they be fertilised he did mate in about october last year before i lost his mate (i have different species in the tank with him now), he laid a couple of test eggs before hibernation in approx november he the hibernated until beginning of may, he has been up for over a month now and i thought for the last couple of weeks he wasnt well< i tried all sorts to try perk him up his favourite foods strange mixes that are meant to help ill snails, now i've found he was just carrying eggs. how long are they able to store for, any chance his eggs are fertilised? how long do they take to hatch? thanks

They can store for a long long long time so chances are they may hatch in a few weeks depending on the temp. Congrats!

I too recommend foods high in nutrition as well as energy like sweet potatoes. I actually can tell how well my snail was eating before laying eggs based on the size of their eggs. If you don't already try giving some fish flakes, that always perks my snails up after laying eggs. Best of luck to you in hatching the eggs and congratulations!

I've been told not to give them avacado, think its on the list of foods not to give them. However before I knew that I gave it to mine and they were fine. havent done it again though just in case!

I've heard of people giving avocado the their snails without any ill effects, but I think I've heard of even more people whose snails wouldn't even touch it. I tried it once with mine and they ignored it.
There are so many other good foods to feed our snails that they won't miss avocado.
