perfectly fine and yummy to them, and cheap since they grow like weeds. make sure of course they are not sprayed like with everything else.

Dandelion leaves are an excellent food for snails. You can gather the seeds and sow in pots/trays to keep a good supply of fresh leaves. Never collect them from the roadside though, only from your own garden to guarantee a clean chemical free supply. Paul www.bugz2go.com

Same here, I kept Roman snails and banded snails on an almost exclusive diet of dandelion and other leaves for some time (because I wanted to keep them close to nature). If you take them from outside, you will certainly have to wash them before you give them to your snails...

I read from somewhere that in old times.. People dig up roots in spring or in autumn and washed & peeled roots and made porridge or give nutrional add to bread dough. My wc snails and a. fulicas use to love flowers and leaves.

Dandelion leaves are extremely popular by all my snails, they love them - and I've also heard that they contain a pretty good amount of calcium too, so it's perfect snail food.
