I aqquired two snails last night. They are very small, with brown shells and black bodies. I placed some potting soil as a substrate and placed a small plastic cup for them to hide in. Today, I will find some leaves and twigs. Today, when I woke up, one was in the cup and the other was no where to be seen, probably exploring. I fed them celery leaves last night and today I am feeding them lettuce. My only problem is, I dont have any cuttlebone. I will be getting some on friday. Will they be alright until then? If not, what are some other sources of calcium?

Hi, they will be fine untill then if you aquired them from the wild then they wont be used to a very high calcium diet anyway if you want to be realy sure though just powder some egg shells with a pester and mortar sprincle a little on their food and they wont even realise their eating it

Thank you! I guess I will wait then.
What does snail feces look like? One of them wasnt moving from the cup and when it moved therewere small brown strands all in a clump in the cup...
Also, what foods should I NOT feed them?

They should be fine until Friday, as long as they have a regular supply of calcium in their tank from then on. Snail poop looks like clumps of irregular strings that's the same color as what they've been eating (and yes, they will eat the substrate). Don't be surprised to see orange poop following a sweet potato snack or white poop following ingesting cuttle. Food lists can be found here, including foods to avoid.
