Hi I have a suggestion. I don't know if it would be possible or too difficult. But I was wondering about a classified were people could buy and sell their snail art pictures and also shells even great photos some have taken of their snails . Purchasing these things by using certified cheques or money orders. Half up front and the remainder upon receiving there order. I know it isn't good for people to be giving out their addresses so I don't know what the solution would be for that. What do you think. Thanks vallery

Cool idea! Using eBay is probably best because they also have garentees so you can get money if someone scams you but of course on here we wouldn't do that!

It's an interesting suggestion. I think Paul intended the forum to be pretty commercial-free but I can't speak for him. I also sell snail art-work but have never advertised or linked on here as it's not a commercial site.
Certainly no harm in asking though.

Thanks Rosie Thanks Ness, There are just some really cool snailart work and others snailphotos that I love that people have posted on the forum. And of course I love to collect shells. But I realize it would complicate things. Thanks for your help on this. Vallery:)

If you want to sell paintings and such, you can do that on deviantART but you only get a percentage of the payment. I suppose you could make your own site and use paypal, but unless you're in the US it can be rather restrictive.

pennyfarthing, I just noticed that you have a deviant art site listed. Are you an artist? Yes, I am too lazy tonight to go to the listed site to check it out . I'm an artist but I have tried a number of times to sketch some of my snails...disaster. I can't get the swirl. So frustrating. vallery

I have the same problem! Our British snails are so easy, compared with the shape of snails like the GALS. I'm afraid that I cheat, though, and use a stylised, cartoon-style (like the snails on my avatar).

No problem, Vallery. The great thing with cartoons is that less is often more, as the saying goes. I wouldn't say my efforts are brilliant, but it's not bad.

Penny , I checked out your snailtoons. Great! Ha! Ha! I loved the fifth frame , the snail sitting in the dish. Excellent. I tried to comment but it seems you have to sign up to leave a comment. Unless you know of another way I can comment on your site. Thanks for the smile. ;D vallery

Ah! I see that your snails names are Penny and Farthing ;D So my last reply was too you, not Penny. Giggle. Saw their pictures their great. What would be the approximate age difference between them? I have been trying to keep track of the generations of my babies I have one left from the first batch he is growing pretty fast. I am amazed at that. He is five months old. I will have to post a pic of him beside an adult. So how can I address you? Penny and Farthing's mum? vallery

I'm afraid I've no idea what their age difference is because they were both bought. Penny, the larger one, is growing before my eyes but Farthing is a little slower. On saying that, his shell is still thickening, so I expect he'll put on a growth spurt once he's stronger. I think you do need to sign up to DeviatART to leave comments, yes. I'm sorry about that. Glad you enjoyed the snailtoon - I'll work on more as I get inspired. I could always upload the strips here, but I don't want to use up the forum's bandwidth... By the way, I really don't mind being called Penny
