I was looking at my l. panthera, Kibeth, and on her neck there was a kinda... thing... it was on her right side. Ive never seen it on her before, any ideas? Kibeth has a shell length of 9cm and is very roughly 11 months old. I looks kinda like a hole... well, sorta. She seems just as active. Butt it couldnt be a love dart or something because shes the only panthera, although there is a tiger about the same size and age . it is just behind her right eyestalk. Didnt anjie or someone do an email in cybersnail about where did a snails poo come from, then arno or someone replied about the neck or hole under the shell. or the eggs came out the neck? Im more confused than ever!!!! Please help!
Just altered the title - paul

Sophie, it sounds like the hole you are describing is the genital opening. It is on the right handside (if you are facing the same way as the snail) well before the shell starts. It means, Kibeth is now sexually mature. I'll try and find a pic so you can tell me if that is it.

I know somebody selling striped ones, younger though. I was tempted myself but don't want to rush in too quick then find others I really like. So I'm waiting for now. I guess they have to be both brown, or both striped? Nat

Sophie, is it like this?: A striped panthera will breed with a brown one, I have some striped panthera myself, I particularly wanted the brown but I couldn't get any. I think it is very wise to wait and consider what you want, rather than diving in, coz you will end up missing out on the ones you really do want because of lack of space. My snail collection has grown too big because of this paul

Well, I only have 2 and they are barely 5 cm in size yet. But I do know that Fredrik has just had babies and Martyn who posted in the classified section also had babies. And then there is Isabell who mine were off. So, perhaps they would be willing to sell you an adult/sub-adult. I'd post to cybersnails and the classifieds here and if you wish I'll put you on the species owned/wanted/available list. If you do that, I'll make sure they see it for you.

Oh yeah, and can everyone please explain to my mum that panthera are not very usual snails and some people are looking for them. So it would be good if they laid loads of eggs and had loads of babies.

Another post from me.... My mum said that if kibeth only ever laid 1 batch of eggs, it would be fine. But she dosent want kibeth to keep constantly laying so we'll have to dig through the tank and freeze the eggs. And, just when i though all hope was lost... i had a good idea! Now i REALLY need to know if anyone has a 9cm shell brown panthera ready to mate. Then, maybe i could take care of that snail for a while until kibeth and the panthera breed! then i could have the eggs and baby snails [although usually the first batch of eggs is infertile, need some work on what to do about that], then send the other panthera off to whoever it came from then i can have baby panthera!!!! And anyone else who wanted any could have some.
