Wow! they are beautiful gunshotglitter. Great photography. I was wondering if you could post more of the one on the top right left. Is it a nemoralis ? A real interesting shell. There are none like that here. vallery Top right left did that even make sense. How about just top right ?

Top right left lol.. it probably does make sense to snails somehow ;D I have a few like this, I am planing to post more pictures because I can't decide if they're yellow or pink, for some of them. They are only juveniles so of course I can't be sure if they are all nemoralis but I have never seen any adult hortensis where I live, so I assume I only got nemoralis The biggest one (on the top) is Kin, the one whose pic I posted for the competition, he has grown a dark lip literally over night! The baby is growing up <3

That is interesting gunshotglitter . Kin also looks like she is turning a shade of white as well. The shell looks really healthy on Kin. I actually have some rose cepaeas from England and they almost look orange now. I really couldn't call them rose anymore. One even has a marbled colored look now, dark areas and orange areas. My camera is terrible and I can't get very good shots. I hate to think of using a flash and blinding the poor little things. So I guess some sort of lighting would help. vallery

Uh oh! These two were in the middle of a hot and slimy encounter when I started spraying the tank, and of course the nozzle was pointed right into them! I didn't notice until the disgruntled lovers separated rather confused. Gladly it looks like looks like they're back to business, their passion undeterred by rude interruptions from pesky humans. It's the winner couple, rose and yellow one-banded. Will be interesting to see what kind of babies comes out of them!

Hi pinkunicorn , Just the other day I was spraying one of my tanks and didn't notice that two were on the right side of the tank mating until they fell off the side. I was freaked but thankfully they didn't separate they just continued their business. Such a relief. vallery Hi aimee , I was wondering if you could add information about that really adorable little baby. Species - color morph - banded or unbanded and origin. I'm always interested in learning about the different types of snails and it would be of help to others as well. There are so many different cepaeas in all of the different countries that certain countries don't have at all and it is great learning about them as well as seeing their photos. Thanks Vallery

I got some very good pics a little later. Also a close up of the anatomy. As a result of all those snail hormones floating in the air in the tank two of my aspersas also got into the mood, and I caught them at it this afternoon. ;D I guess there'll be a lot of babies soon... I hope! The cepaea babies are very welcome, and perhaps I will keep some aspersas as well.

It's exciting pinkunicorn. I wonder what color morph you will end up with. vallery P.S. I am working on my ideas for the balcony snailarium. I will be mailing it to you soon. I want the open enclosure to be wooden but I can't have it leaking out the bottom and rotting the wood on the balcony where it will sit.

Vallery, it is a hortensis. In true light he is a sort of pinkish fawn colour. He's unbanded and was found in East Sussex, UK

Sadly my little guy passed away today. My cepaea hortensis with all four of his bands fused together making it look like one big band. I am not sure why he passed. vallery Attachments:

Wow! aimee your so lucky : ;D There shells are so perfect. They look in such good health. I have one that has a very very light skin tone. I wonder what accounts for all the different shades of skin tone. Especially when they are all the same species. vallery

Thanks I edited them a little bit on photobucket using the autofix button so the pictures weren't so dark but the small banded shell went a bit dodgey and the yellow unbanded one when blue so i left it alone for the yellow one xD Pictures were taken from my Samasung Galaxy Ace It was so hard to get them to sit in a line, there was always the one who wasn't in order xD

Hi Claudiajade , The ones that are always not in order, little rebels , and they can move pretty fast if they want to. If I am trying to take a photo of more then one or two at a time they all seem to speed off in different directions I am forever putting them back in place. The pics look so great I hope you will post some more like those. vallery Anyone else have extra speedy cepaeas?

The mating snails above have just laid eggs! I caught the yellow one in act. Double egg bonanza for me with the aspersa eggs!

Hi Everyone , I just wanted to mention that it would be great to see on this thread your cepaea drawings and paintings or any types of arts and crafts you have done, even cartoons, I know we have one very talented cartoonist on this forum - pennyfarthing- . I will be posting some drawings myself in the future. Soon we will also have a great new helpful column on this thread by shaydeesnail , I can't wait for that . And I hope everyone will please continue to keep posting your great pictures and information about your cepaeas. vallery
