I took my banana slug out of the tank today to see if he would eat the new hermit crab cake I bought today (they were a hit) and after a while (even after washing my hands once to go in the house and get them some fresh lettuce) i noticed his skin had puffed and raised in very specific areas, in the places i had touched him to pick him up. i think it may have been some witch hazel on my hands from rubbing my shoulders which had some on them. i rinsed him off really well and put him back in the tank with a plastic fork and knife i use for tending the tank and he was perfectly fine but it just goes to show you might never know something dangerous was on your body so its better to be safe than sorry Attachments:

Poor sluggy! But yeah, washing hands is important before and after. Don't want your dear pets catching anything nasty, be it microorganisms or a foreign substance.

Yes even with your snails. I had a huge lose in three separate tanks within a week and all I can figure out is that I forgot to wash my hands before working on their tanks the one day. It was devastating.
