My smallest leopard slug Neptune died of gut extrusion some days ago and now I found Arlene dead. She seemed a bit odd yesterday, but I didn't think more of it. She slept away before managing to lay eggs, which is a great shame. RIP little darlings.

Thank you, everyone. Garfield actually seems like he misses Arlene.. they were trying to mate all the time, and now he has lost interest. The other leopards just aren't Arlene, I guess.

So, after a fight for her life, Samsara gave up and passed away. She seemed so confused about the gut extrusion, and managed to pull it back in several times. But the last time it came out, she fought it for some time and then gave up. I found her dead this morning from the corner of the terrarium, with her head twisted to the side. She really had a will to live, but gut extrusion that bad is impossible to beat. RIP Samsara. You were a beautiful slug with a great personality. I'm really getting a bit worried and depressed with so many slugs dying of gut extrusion. Am I doing something wrong? Why do the others thrive, and yet so many die of this horrible condition? I've not have any snails die of it, just slugs. I don't feed any grains and all the foods that might swell in their guts I soak thoroughly so their consistently is soggy porridge. Their basic diet is cooked carrot (they don't like raw), apple, cucumber, fish food, blueberries, tomato and various unsalted, cooked meats, whatever I happen to have in the house.

Garfield has passed away. He had not been eating very well and had been losing weight from maybe late November. Now I found him dead, and I think he died yesterday or the day before that. Unfortunately I did not check on them yesterday as I as too tired... It's a great shame to lose this magnificent slug, although I knew his time was coming. Leopards get mature after 2 years and live 2,5-3 years. Garfield matured half a year ago at least, although never managed to mate due to his lacking penis. But he grew to be the biggest leopard slug I've ever seen and I hope he was as happy as a slug can be. Rest peacefully now, you big beautiful sluggy. You will be missed.

Bleh, the second last of my leopards is dying (dunno why I failed to post about Castor and Pollux passing months ago, when I had lots of deaths due to gut extrusion. RIP little ones). Poor Ceres looks like she's simply reached her lifespan. RIP old girl. Maitri is left alone now though she is doing well and growing.

Aww, poor sluggy. I'm sure she had a very happy life, though.
