Hi everyone I was just wondering who on this forum has aquatic snails and which kind and if they could share some information and/or photo's.

I have both freshwater snails (very few at the moment) and marine snails (Nassarius sp., Scutus antipodes, Strombus alatus, Mitra sp., Babylonia sp.). I find the chemistry involved hard and struggle to keep the parameters right.

I don't really keep snails anymore, but I have an aquatic snail in my fish tank that seems to have mutated and has grown pretty big. Not sure what species it is, I think it's just one of the types you'll get from just buying unwashed plants from a pet shop.

Hi tsrebel and geckonator , Would it be possible for you both to post some photos of your aquatic snails. I would love to see them. What do you feed yours? vallery

I feed mine algae flakes, regular fish flakes (because I don't have fish, so they get some now and then), vegetables and some special pellets (pressed, dried nettles and dandelion leaves).

Hi tsrebel , My aquatic snails will eat algae chips and fish flakes but I can't get them to eat any type of vegetable. Do you know if this will effect them badly? vallery

No, I don't think it would. In the wild, they eat mostly algae (and aquatic plants for some species).

Thank You Tsrebel , I will check the store where my nephew bought the aquatic snails to see if they have some plants that my snails might eat. Someone on the forum when I posted my snails in the other pet section suggested I was wrong and my snails were not Mystery/Apple snails. Could you have a look at the photos I posted on here and let me know what you think. I would really appreciate it. Thank You again. vallery Modified: It seems that the person that questioned the type of snails I have has deleted their post. I am hoping you could still have a look to try to figure out the type of aquatic snails I have. Thank You

This thread is a year old, but I thought I'd respond. I've kept, raised, and bred aquatic snails for years. A picture of all of them(not in their tanks)-
