I am not sure if this is natural but my Golden apple snail is really aggressive towards the other two (now) smaller then her. I keep wondering if I should place her in her own tank vallery

Aquatic snails seems more aggressive than land snails in general. I think its their natural behavior. It may also be part of their mating. I would just leave her be. Btw, have you determined their sex?

Hi tsrebel , I have checked out anatomy on line and I believe (center in photo) the golden is a female (getting more aggressive all the time )and (right in photo) is a male. Not sure about the smallest (left in photo). As well the smallest continues to stick itself on the backs of the other two giving them extra weigth and slower to move It even looks as thought they try to shake him off. vallery Attachments:

Okay so I have been watching closely and these snails just tend to be chasing each other around. Goldie seems to bite at the others, I am not even sure if biting is the correct word. But it scares them off. Do aquatic snails bite each other vallery

Yes, they do bite. They can actually fight quite hard over food, even when there is plenty.

Interesting! I hope all your snails are okay. I know nothing about aquatic snails but is it possible they are courting before the act? I remember once watching my Cepaea courting and on suddenly moved it's head very quickly and bit the other snail in the usual way that they eat food, except the mouth was much more open and the radula came forward much more, I was so suprised that they could move so quickly and forcefully when they want to! Is that similar to what yours are doing? Maybe that's "I'm not in the mood!" in snailese!

Hi shaydeesnail , You know I never thought of that. I have seen this with my own Cepaea too. Thank You. Remember I told you about that one frisky fella going around the tank looking for a willing partner. Not getting any luck. I suppose it is the same for aquatic snails. vallery

I had 2 apple snails, Wolfgang and Johan. Wolfgang first ate Johan's face then subsequently ate my goldfish Jimmy when he was poorly and sleeping by the bottom. Pretty unpleasant site. He is now in Solitary.
