I think that we should add more species and slightly more info to the list on the website, as it has just achatina, archachatina, and cepaea, with a few slugs, and there are a lot more species to be added. It would be helpful for newbies and for those of us who only know the basic, CB-common breeds.

To my surprise there's no information on the main site www.petsnails.co.uk for either cepaea nemoralis or hortensis even though they're very widely kept. It states: * No information yet. Just a shell picture. The same is true for other helix snails except pomatia which has a brief paragraph.

And there aren't any species other than cepaea shells, helix shells/pomatia paragraph, and achatina/archachatina.

I think only paul can edit the stuff on the main website.

It seems strange that even some of the species with longer texts, the main focus is on description of their looks, rather than how to keep them.

I don't think the website gets updated very much. I haven't seen many new changes on there. There is so much good information that could go on there and photos but I am not sure why it doesn't. Maybe Paul is too busy to maintain it. I know there is a huge cache of threads in the Species Pictures for Website post on the forum.

As someone who recently spent hours poring over that website preparing for my snails' arrival, I totally agree. The info there is great and was extremely helpful, but there was nothing specific to my aspersas. So, for example, I was more worried about keeping humidity high than I needed to be, since the info on the site is for GALs, not aspersas (whom people here were kind enough to point out do fine in less humidity). Despite aspersas being one of the most common snails, surprisingly little info is available online about their care. I'm sure the same is true of other types of snails. So yep, while the website is already extremely helpful, more species specific information would definitely be good to have...

I think Paul is usually very busy. He's not around much on the forums anymore (Mods send him an email if there's a problem). he's a lovely guy who is still very interested in snails and the forum, but i think he just doesn't have sufficient time to update the website

I wonder if he might allow one of the more experienced mods (or a group of them) to add some pages to the site in order to make it more comprehensive? Just a thought. It's already the best site out there, but it could always get better.
