I honestly have no idea if there's already a thread for this subject but I'm going to start a new one. Under this tread you can post your own art(drawings etc.) and/or talk about other peoples art. Who's your favorite artist at the moment etc. Well, here are some of my works: Here's one of my OC's(original character) His name is Clementine but I usually tend to call him Clemmy or Clem sometimes even Mr. Clementine. Here's a random sketch of a raging canine Again, one of my OC's. Her name is Seiko and she is a front legless timberwolf. She was born deformed and eventually abandoned by her pack because she couldn't keep up with the others Later she met a fox, and they became best friends. And finally here's a little drawing I made for my sister. She asked me to draw Silver fang for her. In my opinion he looks more like a husky than an akita.

I have horses around me all the time and have done for most of my life so often its just a case of I see something during my time with them each day, remember it then draw it later when I finally get a chance to relax. If I'm drawing a commission then yes I take photos of the individual and work from those to catch its truest likeness. The stag again I have them around here a lot in the wild so see them frequently but occasionally I get the odd photo as well which i may or may not use as reference. The Blacksmithing work is done mostly from a few dimensions drawn in chalk on a wall and mostly memory as having drawn out ideas the paper either get very dirty very quickly or ends up burnt so pretty pointless.
I'll up date my photo bucket when I get my camera back from the repair shop and upload some of the snail drawings when I get a chance after my visitors have left, and I'll try n post some of those on here.

I've never been good at using photo reference. Sometimes I use some live references but most of the time drawings and crafts come from memory.
I've never drawn snails though so I should probably give it a go since I'm completely surrounded by them-

If I do ever refer to photo's its mostly for white markings and distinguishing features like a pattern in a blue eye etc or a strange shade of coat color. The majority is from memory.

these are all lovely Zorst i really love the colours on the stag (and i'm glad you're another pencil crayon fan) i haven't drawn anything much in a very long time as finding time to just sit and draw is very difficult (besides a few sketches of outlines when waiting for things or in particularly dull talks). However i've been ill recently, knowing that i find drawing theraputic my dad suggested i do some drawing. So here's my most recent attempt. My Dad requested i draw Sacha the desman (from Noah's island - a cartoon from my childhood) so i gave him a bit more texture then had a go at an actual russian desman. I'm still need to work on backgrounds though... i have a love hate relationship with backgrounds....

Ahh another color pencil fan GREAT!!! and likewise with back grounds its very much a love hate relationship here as well. to get the coat color effect I always use base colors to work with the back ground, so often its weird colors like purples, blues n greens which I then mix with yellows n reds etc before adding what would be the normal coat colors, It takes a bit of playing with but works well once you figure it out.
Love the drawing you've posted the characters look great and the effect of the body in the water is very good. Hope you feel better soon, I've also had a year of it health wise. I just got over lung surgery n the recovery only to go and get a horse that wasn't one of mine kick me in the back and break 3 vertebra so back to bed rest again. Ahh well At least I might get the artwork finished for my drum n get it painted lol.

i often find that when you really look at the colours of things there are often unexpected colours in there which is why i think it works well Thankyou for the compliments and wellwishs Zorst and Etana . Zorst i must say you're incredibly lucky to get just 3 broken vertebrae and to not have seriously damaged the spinal cord! I used to go riding (still do when i get chance but sadly i'm now far from my original stables and a student stipend doesn't really cover riding often) and someone got killed, instantly, from a kick from a young mare at my stables, it's a dreadful thing. and i'm very sorry to hear about your lung surgery too. hope you get sorted soon and yes atleast it's a good excuse to do sedentary work. Mine illness is far less exciting, 'just' labyrinthitis, but unfortunatly that means that although i have brief OK periods generally it feels like i've runa marathon then been bundled in a barrel and shoved down a hill, not sure which way is up half the time, it's one of those illnesses you feel silly about.

Ahy I was very lucky indeed, even more so because I broke my back 20 yrs ago and these were re-breaks of some of the original break not new ones. If it had been new and higher up my back Id not have walked again. The horse had broken into a pasture that I rent for some extra grazing, and it had savaged one of our old mares badly so I went to catch that mare to sort out her wounds. That horse just ran across the field and charged at me not the other horses I was lucky it was a glancing kick.
Its bad enough n sore enough though and I have released that I sure don't heal as quickly as I did 20 yrs ago. Ive got some spinal cord / nerve damage as i have limited sense of feeling in my left side leg and arm n a lot of pins n needles that weirdly really ache. So after a few more weeks healing and another MRI scan its onto starting physio. Until then I'm on crutches and limited time that I'm allowed to be up n walking.
Your own illness is bad enough though as it can keep reoccurring and each time can be worst than the last. I've a friend who's partner has it n she spends a lot of time unable to do much. On her good times though its great to see her out and about but as you say they can be few an far between. I really feel for you at least I know mine will improve and I'll be back up and working n riding relatively soon.
Keep up with your art work though.

Wow very lucky by the sounds of things Zorst! hope you heal quickly. It must have been terrifying i'm glad it's all working out OK and i hope the old mare is recovering/has recovered well. I've heard labyrinthitis can keep reoccuring but this is the first time i've had it and (hopefully) the only time *fingers crossed* it's still lingering in there a bit but things are generally getting much better. Besides i need to get better quicker i need more pencils

Heart n mind r all to willing Body's just a bit to sore to do much. Man I healed a lot faster 20 yrs ago. If it's your first dose of it MD hopefully it'll be the only one and I wish you all the best in that area. Now you gotta get better to go n get yr new pencils. Zorst
