For keepers of Cepaea nemoralis, I found this very interesting page with a lot of information about their behaviour, feeding, mating & hatchling survival rates, among other things. I imagine quite a lot of the info also applies to Cepaea hortensis. animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/accounts/Cepaea_nemoralis/Some things I found particularly interesting: - they can hibernate underwater and survive there for 2-3 weeks!! - high temperatures and low humidity inhibit snails' growth rate and egg production - they can produce offspring from several different matings in each brood of eggs - each egg brood consists of genetic contributions from one female parent and two male parents - in summer they are much more likely to climb high into the trees for lower temperatures and shade than in spring and autumn - they feel pain more during nighttime! - they predominantly move in an upwind direction - adult Cepaea nemoralis require sitosterol in their diet ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beta-Sitosterol )

Thank you so much for this! Especially the part about their diet so that I can make sure they're getting the sitosterol they need. I adopted two cepaea nemoralis on October 7th, and would already love to add more.

If you're still interested in this species, I found a very interesting article on their color polymorphism! www.nature.com/articles/hdy201274If this is not the place to share such a resource, feel free to let me know where I could post it instead. I was unable to post it as its own thread under the "species specific" category, and it seems to go nicely with the other very thorough resource shared.
