Luna was trying to mate with Caracol for a while now. I looked in the tank and noticed that they were in each others faces. Luna had reproductive parts out and was trying to mate with Caracol but instead, Caracol started biting Luna viciously and this caused her to crawl away. A few minutes later, she presued to mate with Caracol and he bit her a few more times and crawled away after Luna kept trying. Is it normal to get rejected like that? I've noticed that Caracol especially doesn't like to do things he's not in the mood for. Does it have to do with personality or season or what?

Yeah, that kind of things happen with snails sometimes. Someone likes another snail more than they get liked back, they don't get in the mood for love at the same time, etc. The very disappointed Cepaea in my avatar got rejected too, poor little fellow!
I don't usually see them get that angry over flirting the way you describe, so that might be down to their individual personalities. I've seen snails hit a too flirty snail in the face with their shell and run away, though.
Then again out of the different species I have, the Cepaea seem the most ready to bite someone if they don't like where things are going.

Quite a scene you described there. It doesn't sound like t anything too unusual, but just continue to monitor them.

i wouldn't worry too much. Actually it could be flirting. When mating i have seen my snails rasping on each others parts. remember snails are masochists
