You might have to get a permit but snails do well alone if your gone.

You won't really be able to bring snails on a plane legally because various countries have laws prohibiting "pest" species crossing their border. but as long as you have a pet-sitter to feed them they should be fine.

I would recommend contacting the airline and asking them. However, interstate transport of snails is not permitted without a permit. tinyurl.com/USsnails

I know I know strange question but i need to know, Is a pet garden snail allowed on a airplane Internationally? Hells no! Provincially? That I'm not sure about... Unlike the U.S though, I don't think we have laws that prohibit you from shipping snails between provinces as long the snail itself isn't a prohibited type to begin with, but to actually bring it on a plane between provinces may be a different story.

Or is it your personal, busy schedule that doesn't allow you to reply as fast as you'd like to?

I hope it's okay for me to bump this thread. If not, I'll just start a new one.
Has anyone figured out if it's okay to take snails on an interprovincial flight yet? I know it's perfectly fine to send them via air mail as long as you write on the package that they're snails, but I'd want to bring them in my carry-on since I'm travelling too.

It would be best to check with the airline you're travelling with, and/or to ask the Canadian Food Inspection Agency about the specific laws. www.inspection.gc.ca/plants/plant-pests-invasive-species/domestic-measures/eng/1523384657071/1523384657601#a4

I think we’ve concluded that it’s not allowed. I don't know of anyone who's ever had any issues with it. Some people have collected snails from other provinces and moved between them just fine. Just make sure that a) it's not a federally regulated pest b) you don't leave the country i.e go to the U.S with your snails.

So, I've learned that it's perfectly fine to bring garden snails interprovincially via plane, but they need to be handled like any other animal. IE: You cannot bring them in your carry-on, they must be checked.
The Greyhound in Canada does not allow snails at all, as they do not want them in the carriage and animal cruelty laws prevent them from putting them underneath. However, I didn't know this and several years ago I transported about 15 snails in my checked baggage from Salmon Arm to Calgary and they all survived.
You can also just mail them to yourself to ensure that they're handled properly and you don't get any weird hold-ups/looks at the airport... Just at the post-office, haha.
