i think my iradelei are lonely i had to split them up because of their frequency in breeding (btw there are about 6 babies left) each iradelei seems ok in their new tank, but i saw something strange. hahaha the iradelei was trying to mate with a baby panthera and the baby panthera was like 'NOOOOOO' so i had to seperate them. aww my poor iradelei. maybe i'll let them breed next year. kind regards mike

Do you want me to sit in the corner and rust, or just fall apart where I'm standing?

maybe you could get them out and put em together for a while each day, with you keeping an eye on em to make sure they don't mate.

You know, it may be possible. Iredalei still create eggs but just hold them internally. So theoretically it is possible for them to still swap sperm and fertilise their eggs.

im sure an iradelei/panthera would be nice, but the panthera are still not mature, even though theyre a year old they dont grow, theyre still only about 5-7cm (yes they do have cuttlefish, infact theres 3 in the tank : i was wondering, how do snails know other snails are different species? kind regards mike

Perhaps they don't know - perhaps they don't care, perhaps that's why there are so many species that look similar to others, they have in fact cross bred?? ;D

maybe it's in the slime you know like when a dog sniffs another dogs urine they can determine the sex, condition and age of that dog ;D

it's all down to research like if you tracked a wild dog (young male) then if that dog sniffed another males urine then he would probably just mark over it or something, if he sniffed an old or sick females urine then he prob wouldn't bother with it but if he sniffed a young healthy females urine then he would prob track her to mate with her ;D

It probably is in the slime. Did you know they can alter the slime chemically by choice, this chemical fingerprint can be read by other snails? It is used to attract mates and to communicate simple messages such as where food is.

Didn't know that, that is fascinating!! You wouldn't think there was so much to learn about a snail would you?
