Say, for example a little cepaea in with a tiger. Do you think it might smother it by mistake?
Do certain types defend their territory or dislike other snails?

I don't keep my little snails with my my big snails just incase they did get hurt. I do put them together when I'm watching them tho. My little 'un has been run over a couple of times but it never hurts her. I would keep an eye on them tho.

I wouldn't keep a native snail with a GALS. I have kept all my GALS species together without any problems and know alot of people do. They don't fight or defend teritory, I often find snails snuggled up in plant pots so they must like company. Nat

The majority of snails get on perfectly well. There are a few types of carnivorous snails but generally they aren't kept. Snails will get along very well, the only trouble I had once was with one type rasping another shell, perhaps because in this case the shells are quite different so they may just not have realised. It hasn't happened since though.
As for small and large snails, I know people do mix the two such as Pleurodonte (2cm) and margies (16cm) with no problems. You find small species are much quicker and can run rings around their larger cousins. This probably is why they don't get crushed. That could a problem I suppose, it's hard to say, with plenty of soft substrate the risk is significantly reduced. The only other risk is a large one falling on a small one. That would obviously smash it.

I wouldnt keep African snails with European snails, thats just me though.
I keep different African snails together and they get on fine, though I was talking to someone recently who told me his Lissachatina panthera had attacked his L.flammea so he had to seperate them

Mixing wild caught snails with captive bred ones is always gonna impose a risk of disease. Especially if they are from vastly different places. That is why people generally don't. They only mixing going on I have at the moment apart from mixing African species is keeping 2 small caribbean species (1 captive, 1 wild) with a small european one (captive). I've encountered no problems with this.

Attacked? what do you mean? Shell rasping or something? I didn't know snails were in the least bit aggressive.

One other consideration is conditions of care. The pleurodonte and margies love similar conditions both being tropical snails. Mixing temperate snails with tropical ones may cause problems if for some reason they need an extreme that the other isn't comfortable with. Generally though, room temperature is fine for most snails, although no doubt there are exceptions to that.

He didnt explain much to me, all he said was his L. panthera (I think are adult) attacked his flammea, and that he had to remove the flammea into seperate housing, im glad he told me cause' I wont put any snails in with my panthera now.

I suspect it was accidental shell damage. I caught a reticulata (I think) rasping a panthera shell. I wondered if it was because the shells are quite different and they mistook it for moving calcium. Usually they ignore each others shells.
Will you ask him, I'd like to know more?

Aren't the Flammea quite pale? Maybe they thought it was cuttlefish lol. Sophie keeps a panthera with others, no problems I would think the most they could do was have a rasp, by mistake.
