Hi all Hope you can help me. My dear Chunk from Anjie is being a stubborn bugger since I got him and won't eat. He seems to taste the food and then give up, I can wake him up no problems when I try, just cannot get him eating. Could he possibly have a hurt/injured mouth? I saw a page about it somewhere before but haven't a clue where, so anybody remember??? Many thanks Its so frustrating Nat Edit, Anjie found the site for me, but it didn't help me, so please someone have some ideas, hes been so active tonight 'tasting all the food' having a go, but now managed any

No progress Its getting me down now. Yesterday I tried cucumber and apple soaked in Guiness, and he even resisted that I can wake him up no problems when I try, in a warm hand, or warm water even better and he comes right out, nosing around. He just WILL NOT eat Don't know what else to do

Try putting him into an empty tank with NO soil for a couple of days with only a bowl of water and foooooooooooood that might work

OH MY GOD Nat! The little monkey! What are we gonna do with him. At first i thought it was because he had a good feed up before he left here but its getting a bit beyond that now.
I'm racking my brains here - could he be missing his other Brixton Margie buddies?? Could a change of scenery really affect a snail that much?? I don't know.
I will drive down and pick him up if you want Nat, see if he eats with the others - upto you. We can't be sure that will work though.
Anj,x.

Maybe it could affect a snail that much....I know from the Brixton Margies and Tigers you sent me Anjie that they seem to take a while to settle down. Sorry cant help anymore than that. Seems like your trying everything you can. Babies seem to settle in really quickly its the older, larger snails that seem to take a while.

He doesn't like the change of environment!!! A lot of adults definitely do not like changes and stop eating. Linda & Daz over at Snails2die4 bought a healthy adult snail and the same thing happenend.............I'm afraid it died Val x p.s. These little creatures are not as stupid as we think they are!!!!

The flour paste didn't work Stubborn little monkey. He is going back to Anjies to see if that works, maybe being back with his other brixton buddies will work, you never know. Least we can say we have tried everything then, I can't sit and watch him starve. Nat

It hasn't much He's enjoying being with his buddies again, in his tank with his wood that he likes to slime over, he's been quite active. Still not eating though BUT i have held him upside down and put mushy food on hs mouth and he has eaten a few mouthfuls that way. Thats how cute and trusting this snail is ..... you hold him upside down and he just stays there lol doesn't even pull his eyestalks in! I'll carry on doing this until he decides to eat for himself...if he ever does Anjie,x.

OMG!! I can't believe it......i was just cleaning out my BIGGIES, i put them all on the upturned lid with some food while i cleaned their tank out.........and...and...and......CHUNK STARTED GNAWING ON SOME CORN!!!! Thats taught me a valuable lesson - these creatures are not stupid at all, they have feelings and are capable of forming bonds. Why else would he start eating once back with his Brixton Buddies??? I caught him eating some cuttlefish the other day and he froze and looked at me as if to say 'damn, i've been caught, no more hand feeding' rofl. I really thought he was going to die. Anjie,x.

Don't be sad Nat.... maybe they had just been through so much together and formed a bond as they grew stronger and got over their ordeal. But i know you are as happy as me that he's eating again ;D
